Digital Citizenship is the focus of this quarter. We will identify way the teacher and students can be Digital Citizens. NETS Teachers Promote and Model Digital Citizenship and Responsibility Teachers understand local and global societal issues and responsibilities in an evolving digital culture and exhibit legal and ethical behavior in their professional practices.
Teachers:
a. advocate, model, and teach safe, legal, and ethical use of digital information and technology, including respect for copyright, intellectual property, and the appropriate documentation of sources.
b. address the diverse needs of all learners by using learner-centered strategies providing equitable access to appropriate digital tools and resources.
c. promote and model digital etiquette and responsible social interactions related to the use of technology and information.
d. develop and model cultural understanding and global awareness by engaging with colleagues and students of other cultures using digital-age communication and collaboration tools.

NETS Students Digital Citizenship –
Protect It Students understand human, cultural, and societal issues related to technology and practice legal and ethical behavior. Students:
a. advocate and practice safe, legal, and responsible use of information and technology.
b. exhibit a positive attitude toward using technology that supports collaboration, learning, and productivity.
c. demonstrate personal responsibility for lifelong learning.
d. exhibit leadership for digital citizenship.

Breakout sessions will include
Webpage 101 Develop a basis webpage to communicate with parents, students, and the global community.
Multimedia: Blogs, Slideshows, Audio/Video (Podcast), and/or WebPages Develop enhancements for the class webpage that support collaboration, learning and productivity.
Wikis and Prezi Develop Wikis or Prezi to address the diverse needs of all learners.

Smartboard Classes for Teachers
We are again offering a SMARTboard class this fall.   The class will focus of the Knowledge and Application levels of the SMART board.
By the end of the course the learner will:
Knowledge
Application
-Turn on and off the SMARTboard at appropriate times
-Create and use 2-3 daily Notebook pages
-Understand how Curricular Software can be used with the SMART board
-Scan items for use on the SMART board
üDevelop lesson that integrate Video and Internet Sites
-Saves to the I and S drives
- Understand connectivity of SMARTboard hardware
- Create Notebook files for curricular lessons
- Understand and use Ink Aware
- Add Audio files and Links to Notebook lessons
- Develop a File Management System
- Use Tables, Transparency and Math Tools
- Manipulate the Property Tab to create dynamic presentation
 
These classes will be held on Tuesdays after school at Bradley Elementary School.

Event Title: Discover Your Heroes

Date: November 6, 2010

Instructional Strategy Focus (Goal): Fostering Critical Thinking and
Communication Skills Through Digital Storytelling

Content Focus: Alignment to Veteran's Day / Stories of America's Heroes /
primary source images and video footage from Discovery Education streaming 

Digital Tools: Discovery Education streaming, VoiceThread, Audacity, GarageBand,
ZooBurst, FlipCameras (will need to make sure that VoiceThread, ZooBurst, and other
Web 2.0 apps you want to use are not blocked)

Expected Outcome:  Teachers will participate in hands-on sessions that will give them the foundation to utilize the above mentioned tools and 
concepts of Digital Storytelling to implement in their classrooms.
Target Audience: Teachers, Library / Media Specialists, Technology/Instructional Coaches
